Open Door hosts captivating breakfast

THE Open Door Crisis Centre held its 8th annual benefit breakfast recently at Westville Country Club.

This year’s theme Celebration, was carried out in fine style with Christmas crackers and beautiful red roses on every table. Country singer Mini Backhouse-Erasmus and Sue Winchester, a counsellor at Open Door, lifted hearts with their rendition of You Raise Me Up.

The focus of the breakfast was around women of worth and Open Door’s Cindy Pivacic told her personal and moving testimony of how she rose above challenges to celebrate her own life. Guest speaker Shannon Kenny reminded the 260 guests of the importance of celebrating individuals who touch lives and influence what others become.

Thora Mansfield, director of Open Door, spoke passionately about the plight of women who have been raped or find themselves in domestic violence situations. Her infinite experience in this field created awareness of the difficulties these “women of worth” experience each day. The morning was a great success and Open Door Crisis Care Centre thanked all 32 sponsors who made it possible.
